Mark Eisen was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1958. He moved to the USA when 19, attending the University of Southern California. Mark later became a fashion designer in Los Angeles, then moved to New York City where he built an eponymous luxury fashion brand that regularly premiered on the foremost runways and employed over 200 people with studios around the globe. Eisen's clothing collections were sold internationally for over 20 years, and were often featured in publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and The New York Times. In 2007, Eisen changed his career path, returning to South Africa where he rehabilitated a 17th century wine farm. During this time, he began designs for this group of wall sculptures, and also designed fragrance vessels exclusively for the luxury group Richemont.

Eisen returned to the United States in 2019 and concentrated on bringing his fine art designs to fruition. In them we see key concepts and forms built over nearly three decades as a designer. Throughout his career, working in the diverse creative worlds of America, Italy, France, Japan and China, he cultivated a cross-cultural, global perspective by creating objects that enhance life through beauty. An inherent minimalist, Eisen was inspired by the basics of form, material and color. This grew out of early studies in Bauhaus thinking, from where he also became inspired to converge the interdisciplinary fields of art, craft and design. He creates seamless, formal constructions with sensuality, energy, and technical know-how.

The first showing of these works will be at Art Palm Beach, January 22nd to 26th, 2025, at the Palm Beach Convention Center.
